Tonight, Unlock Democracy is proud to be participating in the Scottish lobbying consultation process. Our director, Peter Facey, will be on the panel in a public meeting organised by Edinburgh and Lothian Purple People, along with Electoral Reform Society Scotland’s Willie Sullivan, Spinwatch Scotland’s Will Dinan and the guest of honour, Neil Findlay MSP, who has launched a private member’s bill calling for a statutory register of lobbyists and is keen to listen to the public about their views.
The event is fully booked, but there’s plenty you can do to participate if you’re not coming along. If you want to take part in the consultation, we’ve made a web tool to make it easy for you, and given you instructions about how to participate in other ways. The deadline is Monday 29th October, so if you haven’t participated yet, now is your opportunity.
If you are going to the meeting tonight, we encourage you to tweet using the hashtag #lobbyingscotland so everyone back at home can follow the public meeting. We’d also love to see conversations on the hashtag from everyone!
The Scottish lobbying consultation is an opportunity for Scotland to lead the way in lobbying transparency. We hope the people of Scotland will make the most of this!
