Results of the Devolution survey for Councillors

We recently emailed councillors across England to ask for their views on the Government's plans for devolution.

Thank you to the councillors who responded to our survey. We greatly appreciate it.

We got responses from over 800 Councillors from all political parties, as well as independent Councillors.

The results indicate that only 20% of Councillors are optimistic that the Government's proposed reforms will improve local Government in England. Only 17% councillors believe that a minimum of 500,000 people is the right size for local councils in England.

We will be sending these results to Angela Rayner MP, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government and Jim McMahon MP, the Minister of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, who leads on devolution, for their comments.
