Dear Party Leader,

The Government has written to the leaders of 63 local councils for their views on cancelling elections scheduled for May 2026.

Local elections are a fundamental part of democracy. Voters must have a say in who runs their local areas.

Nearly six million voters were denied their voice last May. Now millions more risk losing their vote in May 2026.

Please can you tell your Council Leaders you want them to oppose cancelling elections in their areas?

And please will you call on the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Steve Reed MP, to rule out cancelling further elections without the approval of the House of Commons?
