Chante O'Shaughnessy

I was honoured to be re-elected to Unlock Democracy's Council and hope to continue supporting its mission over the next two years. 

At a time where there is a growing appetite for change, people are receptive to new ideas but also more vulnerable to polarisation and misinformation. This creates both an opportunity and a responsibility for Unlock Democracy to make the case for reforms that ensure power is properly constrained and voters are represented. 

I believe Unlock Democracy can play a vital role in scrutinising those in power, challenging misinformation, and campaigning for transparency and higher standards in public 

As a council member so far, I've helped to contribute to Unlock Democracy's strategy and direction, brought forward new ideas to expand youth engagement and strengthen our campaign messaging.

Over the next two years, I hope to build on this work and help Unlock Democracy to reach new audiences, strengthen partnerships across the democratic reform sector, and seize opportunities to make a bold case for a fairer democratic system.

I'm looking forward to working with fellow Council members and staff to deliver this!
