Our letter to the Prime Minister on big money in politics

Dear Prime Minister,

We welcome the measures in the Representation of the People Bill that will stop foreign billionaires from donating to UK political parties. 

However, UK-based companies and individuals can still make enormous donations to our political parties, giving them disproportionate influence.

Do you support there being no limit on what a single individual or company can give to a political party? 

We believe allowing mega-donations weakens our democracy and erodes the public's trust in our politics.

If you agree, please introduce an annual donation cap into the Representation of the People Bill. We think the cap should be set at £5,000 annually per donor, but any cap would be a step forward.
